THE COLOUR NOTES

Plan a room’s colour story

Use digital inspiration, then test real samples.

Start with what stays

Look at flooring, large furniture and fabrics you already own. These are part of the room’s palette even if you are only changing the walls.

Choose a direction

Try a quiet palette for a gentle backdrop or use a stronger accent in a smaller area. Give each colour a role: the main surface, supporting materials or a finishing detail.

Screen colours are a starting point

A HEX value describes a digital colour. It is not a paint formula or a promise that a tin of paint will match your screen. Use the palette to describe the direction you want, then compare physical samples.

Test in the actual room

View samples alongside existing materials and at different times of day. Follow the paint maker’s instructions for preparing and applying a sample before committing to a larger purchase.
